Android update – Android Q could be the best Google software in years and this is why

Android is Google’s mobile software that was last updated back in August.

The newest version of Android, 9 Pie, made a number of handy changes for fans.

However, it is expected the next iteration of the operating system, dubbed Q, will improve upon Pie in a number of ways,

XDA Developers has already insisted it has obtained an early build of the new software and has been keen to detail a number of features it could introduce.

First and foremost the outlet has declared Android Q will introduce a system-wide dark mode for fans.

Android 9 Pie already has a dark mode but it is not system-wide, meaning once it is enabled only the operating system’s app drawer and notification shade comply with the aesthetic.

In contrast, a system-wide theme in Android Q would, once enabled, ensure all applications that support such an appearance would also flaunt darker tones.

In addition to delivering much requested features for fans, it appears Android Q is also set introduce a number of less noticeable, but vitally important tweaks.

XDA Developers claims to have found evidence within Google’s latest and greatest operating system that suggests it will give users the ability to downgrade versions of applications.

The outlet said it had discovered new permissions within the software called “package enable rollback” and “package rollback executed” that hint such a feature may be possible.

If the new function is present in Android Q, it could provide solace if an application receives and update that unexpectedly breaks a function within the software itself.

Such instances are not unfamiliar on the Google Play Store and having the ability to downgrade to the previous version of an app could grant a better user experience until a fix for any problems is provided.

XDA Developers also noted Android Q is seemingly set to stop applications reading the user clipboards.

Currently, Android software needs to read a user’s clipboard in order to grant the ability to copy and paste items.

However, the outlet insisted a new permission called “read clipboard in background” appears set to quota the information other apps can read from users.

Clipboard is the tool used to copy and paste items in Google’s operating system and is frequently harnessed to move personal information such as email addresses and passwords.

It appears with Android Q Google is hoping to make using clipboard more secure.

Although the new features suggest the American tech giant is planning a plethora of handy upgrades for fans later this year, it is worth noting none of the features discussed by XDA Developers have been officially confirmed by Google.
