Why the Queen disapproved of Kate’s ‘frivolous displays of wealth’ before she married Will

Kate Middleton is now the Duchess of Cambridge. She is married to the heir to the British throne and has three royal children. As a young woman she could not have guessed at the royal future that lay in wait for her. Now a royal expert has claimed the Queen took issue with some of Kate’s behaviour before she married the prince.

According to royal expert Katie Nicholl, the Queen worried about a young Kate’s many holidays, The Sun reported.

Apparently, the Queen thought that Kate ought to have a full-time job.

After leaving St Andrews with a 2:1 in History of Art, Kate got a part time job.

The future Duchess worked at Jigsaw as a fashion buyer, but only for a year before leaving her role.

She managed to find the time for a number of foreign holidays with her beau, which concerned Her Majesty, Katie claimed.

She wrote: “If [Kate] was not with William at Balmoral then the couple were skiing or holidaying on Mustique.

“Britain was now in recession and such frivolous displays of wealth were unpalatable to The Queen.”

The Queen was also keen on Kate getting a job, according to Katie.

“She is one of the hardest-working Royals, despite her age, and that a future member of the family was without a full-time job was unacceptable to her,” she wrote.

Katie added: “The Queen had quietly suggested that Kate affiliate herself with a charity and, by September, she was involved with Starlight, which works with seriously and terminally ill children.”

Katie also revealed Prince William dated Arabella Musgrave shortly before he met Kate.

The romance was revealed in a 2010 book.

Royal expert Katie Nicholl detailed the relationship in William and Harry: Behind the Palace Walls.

She claims the royal noticed Arabella as a party after she ‘blossomed’.

The except from the book read: “As [Arabella] walked through a friend’s house party, William did a double-take.

“Arabella had blossomed into a gorgeous-looking girl, and he wondered why he hadn’t noticed her properly until now.”
