WhatsApp update brings another new feature for fans to enjoy

WhatsApp is the most popular third-party messaging app in the world, surpassing its closest competitors in terms of monthly users.

In fact, Statista has claimed as of October last year the service had 1.5billion monthly active users.

WhatsApp is available on Android and iOS devices, but it can also be accessed on desktops using WhatsApp Web.

In order to activate the Web version of the software, users need to go into the app on their phone to pair the two.

In order to do this users should open the app and head to settings.

From there the WhatsApp Web button should be selected.

The user will then be prompted to scan a QR code that can be found by loading WhatsApp web on a PC or Mac.

After this process has been completed, WhatsApp fans will be able to chat on their computer in addition to their smartphone.

WhatsApp Web offers many of the same features as its Android and iOS counterparts.

However, until now it was not able to play video in a picture-in-picture mode, as is offered on smartphones.

But it appears WhatsApp has introduced the feature to the service in a new version of the Web client.

Originally spotted by WABetaInfo, the feature works for YouTube, Facebook and Instagram content.

In order to make sure users are running the latest version of WhatsApp Web to harness the functionality, the page’s cache should be cleared and then the browser it is running on should be restarted.

Picture-in-picture allows video content to be consumed in a separate floating window that can be moved around.

This means WhatsApp fans can continue talking with friends and family even if they are watching such content.

Video that does not support picture-in-picture will need to be viewed in a separate tab.
