Maroon 5: Usain Bolt WON'T sing to Super Bowl halftime headliner's hit

Usain Bolt backed out of singing to Maroon 5’s hit Girls Like You when he attended the Super Bowl 2019 in Atlanta last night with girlfriend Kasi J Bennett. The 32-year-old sprinter was egged on by his 29-year-old beau to join in on the song during a break between the New England Patriots and the Los Angels Rams game. However, the Jamaican native declined to sing, saying he was unable to hold a tune – a statement which amused his partner. Sharing the moment with her 280,000 Instagram followers, Kasi filmed herself singing along to Maroon 5, before turning the camera to Usain.

With the camera facing him, Usain shook his head and repeated: “I can’t sing,” as his girlfriend giggled in the background.

On the night, Maroon 5 performed a medley of their greatest hits including Moves Like Jagger, This Love and She Will Be Loved.

During their halftime set they were joined on stage by guest performer Travis Scott, 26, and Big Boi, 44.

Kasi documented Travis’s performance on her Instagram story, describing the father-of-one’s segment as “super lit”.

The rapper performed his track Sicko Mode with Maroon 5’s lead singer Adam Levine, who played the electric guitar.

After the show, 39-year-old Adam took to Instagram to reflect on the gig and thank his fans for their support.

The star shared a picture of lanterns floating in the air with his 11.8 million, which spelt out: “One Love.”

“When we accepted the responsibility to perform at the SBHTS, I took out my pen and just wrote,” he penned.

“Some of the words that came to me in that moment eventually made their way onto the incredible lanterns that flew high and low tonight.”

He continued: “We thank the universe for this historic opportunity to play on the world’s biggest stage.

“We thank our fans for making our dreams possible. And we thank our critics for always pushing us to do better. One Love.”

The father-of-two ended the touching post by listing the words he initially came up with when he was first asked to headline the Super Bowl 2019 halftime show.

Some of the words on his list included: forgive, laugh, share and embrace.

Fans of the singer rushed to the comment section to praise the star on his performance, with one writing: “Great job Adam, you were amazing!”

Another person shared: “Great show. Love Maroon Five and your list of words,” while a third simply said: “Maroon 5 are the best!”
