Meghan Markle news: Prince Harry ‘anxious’ through Duchess' pregnancy

Meghan Markle, 37, and Prince Harry, 34, will become parents in a matter of weeks when the Duches of Sussex welcomes their first baby. The couple announced their pregnancy news just five months after they tied the knot at Windsor Castle in May 2018 and they have had a jam-packed schedule ever since, meaning all eyes have been on Meghan’s blossoming figure. Meghan and Harry have made it very clear to royal well-wishers they are excited to become parents, but the news has also had an adorable affect on their relationship. Body language expert Judi James told Express.co.uk Prince Harry’s body language appears to show how much more protective he has become of his wife, as well as seeming to be “in awe” of her.

Judi said: “The early months of Meghan’s pregnancy showed Harry has absorbed and possibly in awe of her as she had been with him during their engagement and early marriage.

“Their body language became more mirrored and even more exclusive than it had before. Harry’s eye-gazing with Meghan on the beach during their first tour shows such intense focus that it seems someone is trying to tap him on the shoulder to get his attention.”

Harry is said to be very protective of his wife, and his body language throughout her pregnancy apparently shows his protectiveness has only intensified.

Judi continued: “Harry’s anxiety gestures pretty much began when he met Meghan, with the odd ‘paperclip’ hand clasp on his jackets suddenly making an appearance along with some intense frowning and more serious facial expressions reflecting the sudden increase in his levels of responsibility.

“Harry lost the boyish ‘fun’ facial expressions that always made him look so naughty and adopted a more adult, serious mode as he changed states to husband and then father.”

However, as Meghan has become popular in her own right and has won over the hearts of the nation, she has begun to look more laid-back in her role while Harry seems “anxious”.

Judi added: “More recently though these traits have intensified whereas Meghan seems to have been adopting a much more openly central role in their body language poses, also cradling and presenting her baby-bump with unmasked joy and pride.

“She has always shown the highest levels of confidence via her body language but now she does seem to have accepted the fact that she is now seen as a very popular royal in her own right.

“Her smile is glowing and her posture completely upright with a far more confident, high-held head.

“Harry, meanwhile, shows all the signs of being a rather anxious and protective dad-to-be even though his wife isn’t showing public signals of needing or wanting to be fussed over.”

Judi explained Prince Harry has taken on a “bodyguard” role for his pregnant wife, adding: “Meghan now greets the crowds with a very communicative smile as though sharing her good news and her excitement over the baby while Harry often sports a rather worried or concerned-looking frown.

“While Meghan beams confidently and happily Harry often appears to be going into “bodyguard” mode around her now, towing her along with one hand; placing a protective hand on the small of her back or wrapping his arm around her shoulders, or ushering her along with one arm held out while she seems intent on spending more time chatting to royal fans.”

A recent video of the couple at the theatre melted hearts, as Harry was captured placing his hand out for his wife as she got comfortable in her seat – a sign Judi says shows he is tuned in to his wife’s needs.

Judi said: “His more protective signals were on display at a recent evening event when they both took their seats with Meghan smiling confidently while Harry wore an expression of concern and even fiddled with his fingers in a self-comfort gesture.

“He placed his left hand out palm-up and she placed her hand in his, moving it toward the baby-bump in a ritual that suggests Harry is now totally tuned in to her needs and comforts when they are out in public.”
