Fortnite Save the World NEWS: free code latest as Epic tease next big update

Fortnite Save the World is getting close to another big update from Epic Games.

The STW team recently shared a new dev update, outlining what they are working on next for PS4, Xbox One and PC.

And from the sounds of it, we have several revisions to go before we get close to Fortnite Save the World going free-to-play.

Epic Games outlined their plans to change Save the World in 2018, revealing that they had several projects to complete before the game would be ready.

When they finish all the change, fans can expect the free codes to roll out on all platforms.

However, until then, STW fans will have to wait for a series of new updates to land.

And these might be more exciting than seeing Save the World going free-to-play, especially when you consider that fans of the original mode are worried about V-Bucks farmers.

A jump in the player base would no doubt be welcomed by fans; however, people won’t want to see a new wave of AFK players joining the community.

So what will be changing next in Fortnite Save the World?

The dev team has confirmed that the player reporting system is changing, with bugs being removed that caused problems in the past.

According to the latest dev post, notifications that inform players that their reports had been received were not going out.

This is apparently down to a bug in the system, which is now being revised.

AFK reports were also having troubling getting through, with Epic Games confirming the problem now fixed.

Fortnite Save the World will soon include a system in which a warning message will pop up when a player is detected to not be contributing.

This will be followed by the next update, another step on the road to launching the Fortnite Save the World free-to-play model.

The development team want to add new features, rework parts of the game, as well as beef up the backend system to deal with the added demand.

This is expected to happen in stages, with new updates being released periodically in 2019 to facilitate the changes.

Hero Loadouts is another area Epic Games is changing, and this will include adding new custom options for players.

The new system is fully functional and is being play-tested right now, meaning it could be ready soon.

It certainly sounds like Epic Games are in no rush to make the big switch to free-to-play until they are happy with the tweaks that are being made to the game.

“Save the World has grown consistently since our launch in July 2017, and Fortnite overall has experienced unprecedented growth,” Epic Games explains.

“Scaling up for the legions of player heroes who will be joining the fight is key to providing an excellent experience. This applies to all of our players, old and new, so we’re taking the time to get this right.”

There is currently no release date other than the fact that Fortnite Save the World will be available to play for free on PS4, Xbox One and PC before the end of 2019.

But with some of the big updates already been talked about for release, it’s a good sign that progress is being made.
