Mission: Impossible 7 & 8 release dates: When are MI sequels out in cinemas?

Mission: Impossible – Fallout was such a box office success, a sequel was almost guaranteed. Of the six Mission Impossible movies, the last in the franchise was the best reviewed.Its star Tom Cruise is known for doing his own stunts and as Ethan Hunt in the Mission Impossible series, he has received plenty of accolades.

When are MI 7 and MI 8 out?

Paramount Pictures has confirmed the release dates of the next two Mission Impossible sequels.

Mission Impossible 7 is out on July 23, 2021, and the eighth instalment is out August 5, 2022.

Jim Gianopulos, Chairman and CEO of Paramount Pictures, said: “We couldn’t be more excited to build on the massive success of Mission: Impossible—Fallout by reteaming with Chris and Tom on these next two films, following two successful collaborations.”

The sequels will be filmed back-to-back, as confirmed by Paramount and Cruise himself.

Taking to Twitter, Cruise posted a gif of the Mission Impossible logo with the caption “Summer 2021 and Summer 2022.”

In addition to Cruise, the director Christopher McQuarrie joined in on the social media conversation.

He tweeted in the Mission Impossible style, writing: “Missions: Accepted #MissionImpossible.”

Speaking to Collider, McQuarrie revealed the star has some ideas for the upcoming sequels already.

McQuarrie said: “I can tell you Tom already has a lot of really big ideas. Yeah. World-topping shit.”

As for whether MI7 would head to space, McQuarrie said: “That would be entirely up to SpaceX or NASA.

“They would have to be involved with that, I would imagine. Or Paramount Pictures.

“I don’t know how much they want to invest,” he added.

MISSION IMPOSSIBLE 6: IS THERE AN END CREDITS SCENE IN FALLOUT?

Cast member Simon Pegg, who plays tech-bod Benji, was also positive about a sequel.

He told CinePop: “I imagine that at some point we’ll be doing mad things again, so, yeah… never say never.”

Pegg told Digital Spy: “These films are always so much fun to participate in and it’s a nice thing to do for a job, running around saving the world.”

A new-comer to the franchise was Vanessa Kirby, who wants to explore more of her character in future movies.

Speaking to Digital Spy, Kirby said: “Simon’s carried on, Rebecca’s come back, Ving’s been there since the beginning, so you just never know.

“I really like the idea of having found this character, developing her more.

“Once you know somebody and how they work, it’s really fun to play her in lots of different scenarios, I’d love that.”

Mission Impossible 7 and 8 are out on July 23, 2021, and August 5, 2022, respectively.
