Anthony Davis set for SHOCK Warriors move, Lakers could be snubbed – NBA expert

NBA experts Chris Ryan and Justin Verrier discussed the idea of the Los Angeles Lakers missing out to the Warriors on the NBA Ringer podcast

Davis handed in an official trade request on Monday as he looks to force a move away from the Pelicans.

His preferred destination is reportedly the Lakers, and it is expected that he will tell teams that he will not sign anywhere else next year.

Davis will become a free agent in 2020 and will reportedly leave wherever he is to join the Lakers.

The Pelicans are refusing to be drawn into discussions with the Lakers, as they instead want to wait for the summer.

But Ryan argued that the Warriors should not be discounted from making a move.

“Horst [Brian Windhorst] went on Zach’s pod the other day and said it’s a list of three teams,” he said.

“I think you’d have to assume that’s the Lakers, Celtics, and I personally thought Warriors.

“I think that three years ago there was this ‘Anthony Davis is the next iteration of the lightyears ahead Warriors team’.

“And so I feel like we’re way too quiet about them.

“I don’t know what they have that they could trade to get Davis.”

Verrier agreed, but suggested it would be tougher for them to get a trade package together for Davis.

“It would be complicated,” he added.

“Klay would have to be a sign-in trade, I don’t think that he would go to New Orleans.

“Plus you’d have to throw Draymond [Green] in there.

“The read I get on AD is that he wants the spotlight, I don’t know how much he seeks it out.

“For me it’s a little curious that the Lakers were his be-all or end-all.”
