Stacey Dooley, 31, who suffered a second wardrobe malfunction on the Strictly Come Dancing live tour earlier this week, recently recalled a funny anecdote during an appearance on BBC comedy game show Would I Lie To You? Declaring the story, which her fellow panellists would have to decipher whether it was fact or fiction, the documentary filmmaker said: “I was once so cold I shivered my skirt off.” After the laughter from her co-stars and the studio audience subsided, she explained: “I was round my cousin’s house and we were all outside and we were all showing off, everyone was having a beer. I was probably about 15, 16.”
Stacey said the weather had turned colder as the night fell, but she was still in her “summer get-up”, including a miniskirt.
“I think a couple of lads had come to meet us on their bikes,” she continued.
“We were all just talking and I was talking to this lad and I really quite fancied him.
“I was sort of shivering and I shivered my miniskirt right off and I didn’t even realise!” she told the captive audience. “Everyone was laughing.”
Stacey said she had been left wearing a “big pair of knickers like P.E. briefs”, remembering: “Everyone was laughing, I was like the joke of the night.”
Ultimately, the opposing team opted for the story being true, which the Strictly champion then confirmed it was.
Her latest knicker flash revelation comes after the Stacey Dooley Investigates presenter exposed her underwear on the Strictly live tour when her skirt fell down in the middle of a routine.
Following the incident, she took to Twitter to make light of the wardrobe malfunction, telling her 260,000 followers: I’m clearly desperate for a knicker campaign/contract…”
Footage of the moment showed Stacey twirling on-stage with her professional partner Aljaz Skorjanec, 28, before her underskirt slipped down to around her ankles.
Aljaz could be seen stepping back looking amused as she laughed and pulled it back up again.
Last month, Stacey made headlines when she flashed her knickers in an overenthusiastic move during the Strictly final.
While performing her Paso Doble, the flame-haired beauty picked up her semi-sheer skirt to shake it dramatically to the music, giving viewers a peek at what appeared to be nude underwear.
After the final, she tweeted: “I’ve won Strictly and flashed my knickers. A perfect Sat night.”(sic)
Later, when she appeared on This Morning to talk about winning the Glitterball trophy, Stacey said: “At least it was massive underwear. I thought, they’re not even fancy, they’re not even lacy.
“It’s like a built-in bodysuit so they’re not even my own knickers,” she added.
“I didn’t even realise. When I went into wardrobe the girls there were like, ‘Stacey, sorry — you were showing your area!’”
