Kristaps Porzingis TRADED: NBA Twitter reacts brilliantly to shock Knicks-Mavericks trade

It has been a whirlwind of events in New York today starting with reports of a team meeting between Porzingis and the front office.

It quickly emerged that Porzingis expressed a frustration with the current direction of the franchise and the Knicks took that as a sign he wanted to be traded.

And they wasted no time in getting a deal done, agreeing a shock deal with the Mavericks.

The deal reportedly sees Dallas acquire Porzingis, Courtney Lee and Tim Hardaway Jr. while New York get Wesley Matthews, Dennis Smith Jr. and DeAndre Jordan in return.

And NBA players in and around the league quickly latched on to the breaking news to give their response.

Knicks star Enes Kanter opted to use an array of emojis to sum up his feelings as the news broke.

And fellow New York team-mate Kevin Knox also made his feelings known with a gif expressing shock.

Joel Embiid loves to be the joker in the league, but this time he seemed to be laughing at the Knicks’ expense, tweeting: “Lololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololo”

Portland Trail Blazers star CJ McCollum couldn’t keep up with the level of news breaking fast, posting: “Prob a good time to turn on notifications and leave do not disturb mode”.

By doing this trade, the Knicks have possibly created up to $75million in cap space.

That will be enough for two max slots, meaning they could go after both Kevin Durant AND Kyrie Irving.

It is a huge risk from New York, considering there were reports that they could have included Porzingis in a possible trade for Anthony Davis.
