Kristaps Porzingis SHOCKS Knicks in showdown talks amid Anthony Davis rumours

The Knicks have been in a complete re-build over the past five years but have slowly positioned themselves to build a contender once again in New York.

There re-build was helped after selecting Porzingis with the fourth overall pick in the 2015 draft.

Frank Ntilikina and Kevin Knox have followed in draft picks while Tim Hardaway Jr and Allonzo Trier have also proved talented this season.

However, they currently have the worst record in the NBA this campaign, largely due to the fact Porzingis has been out all season.

And the 23-year-old has “expressed his concern with the losing, franchise direction and an uncertainty that a culture is developing that will enable sustainable organisational success”.

That’s according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Romona Shelburne and Zach Lowe, who report Porzingis still wants to play for a “winner in New York”, but there are suggestions of unrest in his camp.

This comes in the wake of Davis handing in a trade request at the New Orleans Pelicans with the Knicks being linked with a move for the five-time All-Star.

The way New York are going, they are likely going to have a top pick in this year’s draft.

Zion Williamson is seen as a generational talent while RJ Barrett is also seen as a possible No 1 pick.

It could be a franchise-defining summer for the Knicks as they could also have enough cap space to go after a top free agent.

That may depend on how much they’re willing to offer Porzingis when he becomes a restricted free agent.

Porzingis is still yet to come back from his ACL injury and there is no set return date.

It has been suggested the Knicks may keep him out for the remainder of the season to keep him fresh for next season.

However, other reports have claimed Porzingis may be used by the Knicks to acquire Davis.
