Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall wears the Queen Mother’s Cartier jewellery and a huge hat

Camilla Parker Bowles wore a piece of the Queen Mother’s jewellery today. The Duchess of Cornwall arrived at a service for foreign secretary Lord Carrington. Prince Charles’ wife wore black to the event at Westminster Abbey in London. She wore a large hat with a huge satin brim.

The Duchess of Cornwall wore a black wool coat over a black dress.

She added leather gloves, a small leather bag and a pair of patent shoes – all in the dark hue.

Camilla’s jewellery stood out in the dour ensemble.

She wore her favourite pair of pearl and diamonds earrings and a pearl necklace with a diamond clasp.

This brooch has been in the Royal Family for 90 years.

The piece is likely to have been made by Cartier, a glamorous jeweller who have made much of the royal gem collection.

The piece was bought by the Queen Mother, then known as Queen Elizabeth.

The art deco brooch is made of rock crystal with a large diamond in the middle and around the edge.

There are also small black details on the side that could be onyx.

Camilla appears to be a big fan of the Queen Mother’s jewellery.

The Duchess of Cornwall’s engagement ring belonged to the Queen Mother and is considered to be one of the most valuable in the royal collection.

Lord Carrington was the last surviving member of Sir Winston Churchill’s post-war government.

He Carrington resigned from Margaret Thatcher’s Cabinet in 1982 after taking responsibility for the Argentinian invasion of the Falkland Islands. He died aged 99.

Yesterday Camilla Parker Bowles wore a chic tartan look.

The Duchess of Cornwall was photographed chatting to members of the shed.
