Super Smash Bros Ultimate update 2.0 is bad news for fans of THIS character

Super Smash Bros Ultimate update 2.0 has finally gone live on Nintendo Switch, and it’s bad news if you’re a King K. Rool fan.

The headline new feature is that Piranha Plant joins the character roster.

Anybody who purchases the game before the end of the month will receive the Piranha Plant fighter for free.

Nintendo has reminded fans to collect their My Nintendo Gold Points now, so it’s worth checking the online FAQ if you’re not sure how to redeem your character.

“In order to take advantage of your early purchase bonus and download the Piranha Plant fighter (planned release: Feb 2019), you must collect your My Nintendo Gold Points for the retail version by 31/01/2019,” an in-game notification reads.

“If you have the downloadable version the Gold Points are collected automatically.”

Elsewhere, the Spirit Board is playable offline in four-person multiplayer, while a new short hop command has been added.

A must for hardcore players, you can perform the short hop by pressing both jump buttons.

The brand new patch also makes a whole host of balance changes to different fighters.

The full list of Fighter Adjustments can be found on the Nintendo website.

In some cases Nintendo has made it easier to grab ledges after performing moves, or increased the range and power of certain attacks.

King K. Rool fans might not be too pleased with the update, as it weakens some of his attacks.

Nintendo has shortened the length of the vacuum effect for his neutral attack and reduced the range of his up special.

According to the patch notes, the team has also shortened the amount of time undamaged opponents are buried in the downward throw.
