Star Wars 9 leak: John Boyega revealed THIS about Episode IX ending and fans are NOT happy

Principal photography has almost wrapped on the final Star Wars movie. There will undoubtedly be further reshoots and pick up, but most of the film is now in the can. So, it’s safe to assume that the main stars liek Boyega know how it is going to end. The British actor was answering fan questions online when he was directly put on the spot. One bold fan cut to the chase and asked: “Can you tell us how it all ends.”

Boyega surprised everyone by actually answering the question.

Naturally, he didn’t give away any huge plot details. Instead, he thought he was being clever with his remark but revealed his hazy knowledge about the finer points of Star Wars movie making.

Fans soon put him straight. Under attack, the poor star was forced to explain himself.

Boyega initially replied to the question of how it all ends: “Yep, fades to black and the end credits go up.”

The onslaught of replies all centred on the fact that Star Wars films traditionally finish with a wipe, not a fade. Usually, a slow iris wipe. It is a very important distinction.

Wipes are when the scene on screen is slowly replaced by a new image coming across the screen either horizontally or diagonally. George Lucas established this as trademark Star Wars style.

The iris wipe is when the image on screen gets smaller and smaller in a circular shape, reducing to a dot.

As can be seen by the selection of comments above, Star Wars fans take this very seriously.

Eventually, Boyega posted another message with one word: “JOKE.”

He also added another short comment: “Twitter is one interesting place.”

The actor is wisely keeping his comments on the humorous side of snarky since nobody wants to reignite another fan backlash. It’s probably not a good time, then, to point out that the hugely divisive and unpopular Last Jedi used fewer wipes than any previous Star Wars movie…
