NBA news: Klay Thompson to Lakers, Anthony Davis SHOCK, Kawhi Leonard nearing move

Klay Thompson

Klay Thompson has reportedly drawn up contingency plans to join Anthony Davis and LeBron James at Los Angeles Lakers.

Thompson is out of contract this summer and is hoping to land a supermax contract extension with Golden State Warriors.

The shooting guard has won three NBA Championship in his eight years in north California.

But if he is not offered the best possible deal by Warriors chiefs then he has made it known he would like a move to the Lakers.

That is according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, who told SportsCenter about Thompson’s desire to link up with James.

However, it is said the 28-year-old would only move to the Staples Center if they also acquired New Orleans Pelicans star Anthony Davis.

Davis’ agent, Rich Paul, handed in a trade request for his client yesterday morning.

And the Lakers are hoping to tie up the deal before the February 7 deadline.

Anthony Davis

Los Angeles Lakers reportedly face shock competition in their pursuit of New Orleans Pelicans star Anthony Davis.

Portland Trail Blazers are said to have joined the race, alongside Toronto Raptors and New York Knicks.

“There are a few teams to watch. It’s believed the Lakers will make an all-in offer for Davis, as will the Knicks and Raptors,” Basketball Insiders’ Steve Kyler said.

“A dark horse in all of it might be the Portland Trail Blazers.”

Kawhi Leonard

New York Times reporter Marc Stein has revealed that La Clippers are confident of signing Kawhi Leonard this summer.

Leonard is in the final six months of his one-year deal and can leave as a free agent in July.

“I will say that a genuine confidence about their Kawhi chances emanates from the Clippers every time I’m around them,” Stein wrote.

“They obviously can’t say it for public consumption, but the sense I get is that the Clippers see themselves as the favourites for Leonard.”
