Google Maps is receiving a fix for one of its most frustrating problems

Google Maps the American tech giant’s navigation software that is used across the globe on desktops, Android devices and iPhones.

The software routinely receives new updates that add new features and improvements for fans.

Last year alone the app received a swathe of updates that made it much more useful.

Chief of these was a new feature that allowed users to track the location of public transport.

This meant is was possible to know if a bus or train was delayed in real-time.

Such an upgrade was surely appreciated by those that take advantage of such services on a regular basis.

But it appears Google is not done improving how Maps engages with public transport.

Android Police has reported the American tech giant appears to be testing a feature for the app that allows users to see nearby public transport.

The addition of the feature was said to be part of a server-side test, but it heavily suggests such a tool is inbound for all fans.

Google Maps was shown with a new “public transport nearby” tab that appeared when the user tapped on a location.

Positioned in-between “popular times” and “photos”, the new section shows relevant transport that can be used.

The user is free to scroll along the interactive portion until they see a route or method that is appealing.

Once it has been tapped, relevant transport times will be displayed for the route in question.

Android Police stated the feature was shown working in India and several European territories.

The new tool appears to alleviate the need for users to zoom out on Google Maps to find nearby transport.

Previously, such a function could be incredibly frustrating and time consuming for users, especially if they were travelling in an unfamiliar country.

Express.co.uk was able to see the new feature on our Android devices, however it is currently unclear if it will be accessible to all users.

This publication was not able to take advantage of the tool on iPhone hardware.

Android Police similarly noted not everyone at the outlet was able to harness the new feature.
