As fans patiently wait for Game of Thrones season eight to start on HBO and Sky Atlantic, many are trying to predict how the George R R Martin series will end. While most characters have realised the threat serious threat of the Night King, some have chosen to exploit this for three own gain. Namely Cersei (played by Lena Heady).

The truth is, we don’t know anything for certain yet but there is no shortage of theories online to keep fans entertained ahead of the release.

The main contenders for the Iron Throne at this stage include Jon Snow (Kit Harington), Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke), the Night King (Vladimir Furdik) and Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage).

Earlier this month, HBO finally dropped a promo for the upcoming season.

However, Cersei was not included in the trailer, giving no indication about what will happen to her just yet.

Season seven ended with the Lannister queen revealing she is pregnant and planning on betraying her truce with the Stark and Targaryen forces.

Bookmakers agree that Cersei has slim chances of surviving, with BetVictor giving Cersei a 98 per cent probability of death.

They also place her at odds of 1/25 of being one of the main characters to die in season eight.

As for whether she’ll end up on the Iron Throne, BetVictor have Cersei in seventh place with odds of 12/1 and a measly eight per cent prospect of emerging victorious.

George R R Martin previously said that the ending would be “bittersweet”.

Many fans would definitely hate to see the cruel Cersei hang on to power, but anything is possible is the world of A Song of Ice and Fire.

Whatever happens, it will certainly be epic, but fans have to wait until April to see how the ending of Game of Thrones pans out.

Game of Thrones season eight has finally been given a release date of Sunday, April 14, 2019, by HBO.

HBO will air the first episode of the new series in the USA, while viewers in the UK will be able to watch Game of Thrones season eight the day after (Monday, April 15) on Sky channel Sky Atlantic.
