Dan Walker shared a peculiar picture with his 53,900 Instagram followers after a fan of the BBC Breakfast host modelled a pair of outlandish socks. In the image the viewer can be seen wearing red ankle socks, which had Dan’s face scattered all over them. Of the photo, the 41-year-old journalist said: “Beat this for weird!” before adding: “My actual face on a sock.” Later, in a separate post Dan shared a picture of the socks, with the caption: “This freaked me out this morning – a photo of a fellow human watching [BBC] Breakfast with some socks with my face on them.”
It comes just hours after Dan posted a picture of his robot printed pocket square on the photo-sharing website.
His odd handkerchief was blue in colour and had several tiny red and yellow robots dotted across it.
Alongside the snap, he wrote: “Yes… it is a new tie and ‘yes’ there are robots on the pocket square.”
Fans of the star were quick to comment on the accessory, with one saying: “Very nice. Makes me want to eat a Wispa bar though.”
Another person wrote: “To be fair you have an excellent wardrobe. I always look keenly at your daily wear. Keep it up Sir.”
A third admirer chimed: “All the best people wear robots” as a fourth fan said: “Oh I love it, Dan.”
The compliments would have come as a pleasant surprise to the father-of-three, who was recently slated about the way he knots his ties.
Earlier this month, the broadcaster received an email from a gentleman known only as Brian, instructing him on how to correctly wear the formal attire.
Sharing the message he was sent by the man on Instagram, the star described the notice as “tie rage”.
He began: “An email from BBC Breakfast viewer Brian… ‘Out of respect to other tie wearers, and self-respect, please improve your tie knots.
“‘A double Windsor would be a start. Please wear your tie with a wider knot and no concave fold’.”
Of the man’s advice, Dan said: “I was happy with my simple dimple #TieRage.”
The amusing post soon caught the attention of the TV personality’s fans and he was inundated with responses from his online followers.
One person wrote: “Oh dear Brian, there really is more to life. I think you’re always beautifully presented @mrdanwalker.”
Another agreed, adding: “[You’re] always well turned out Dan,” while a third argued: “That’s a perfect tie, Brian has no style.”
Complimenting the host, a fourth gushed: “Sadly I’ve noticed your tie regularly and thought how sharp and smart it looked. Leave it as is. Looks great!”
