Star Wars 9 leak: New movie is ‘most FUN’ of trilogy – John Boyega gives filming update

The final movie in the Star Wars Skywalker saga – and the concluding third of the sequel trilogy – is nearing the end of principle photography, with Boyega back as Finn. And giving fans a little tease on Twitter earlier today, he described the new film as the “most fun” to work on. After he revealed earlier this month that he’d filmed a hugely shocking sequence, will this be a real mammoth film of Finn’s storyline?

Boyega responded to a fan account that asked: “How much more filming are you doing John? Out of all 3 productions what has been the most fun to work on?”

He responded: “Just a little more! This one has been the most fun by far.”

It’s not surprising that he’s nearly finished: Anthony Daniels (C-3PO) confirmed yesterday that he has wrapped work, and the likes of Richard E Grant and Mark Hamill are also believed to have finished.

Still, some sequences were seen being shot at Black Park over the weekend; although the talent involved was not revealed.

Grant said last week that the security on the sets has been water-tight.

“I’ve never known [secrecy] like this!” he told This Morning.

“It comes out on the 19th December, but I’ve not even been allowed to tell my wife and daughter the name of my character!

“They have security on the sets, in plain clothes and visible, and you have to wear cloaks from the trailers to the studios because there are drones going over head…

“And you have to read the scripts in a big conference room that have guards outside and close circuit cameras.”

He added: “You get the pages you are doing on the day and you have to sign in and sign out for them at the end of the day… so it’s Fort Knox!”

Although Grant’s character is unknown, he is rumoured to be playing a General of some kind, and he hinted recently that “the room turned upside-down” when he was told his identity.

Star Wars: Episode 9 is out on December 19.
