Nintendo Switch update 7.0.0 is launching the same week that Smash Bros fans will get to download update 2.0.0.

It’s important to bear in mind that this patch will delete any replays that haven’t already been converted to video.

An in-game post reads: “Software update Ver. 2.0.0 will be available within the next 7 days.

“Please be aware that after this update, you won’t be able to view replays saved prior to this version. You can, however, still keep replays via Vault > Replays > Replay Data > Convert to Video.”

It’s possible that Smash Bros update 2.0.0 could bring with it the release of the Piranha Plant DLC character.

Anybody who purchases the game before the end of the month will receive the Piranha Plant fighter for free.

Perhaps hinting that a release is imminent, Nintendo has reminded fans to collect their My Nintendo Gold Points now.

The notification reads: In order to take advantage of your early purchase bonus and download the Piranha Plant fighter (planned release: Feb 2019), you must collect your My Nintendo Gold Points for the retail version by 31/01/2019.

“If you have the downloadable version the Gold Points are collected automatically.”

The Smash Bros update could also be bringing with it the files needed for the first season pass fighter, which is rumoured to be released soon.

Joker from Persona 5 has already been announced as the first DLC character for Super Smash Bros.

It’s also rumoured that characters from Minecraft, Ninja Gaiden, Dragon Quest and Doom are also coming to Smash as DLC characters.

It remains to be seen if these rumours come true, or alternatively if other long-held fan wishes become reality.

Fans have long held out hope that Banjo Kazooie and Waluigi could also become Super Smash Bros Ultimate characters.
