Italian diet: How to Lose Weight Well plan promises fast slimming Mediterranean-style

The Italian Diet plan was created by the popular This Morning Chef Gino. On last night’s How to Lose Weight Well dieters tested out the plan. But what exactly is the diet plan? Can it help you lose weight fast?

How does the Italian Diet work?

The plan is the chef’s take on the Mediterranean-style diet.

The Mediterranean diet was inspired by Greek cooking, and this diet applies the same principles but with Italian flavours.

The Mediterranean diet reduces risk of heart disease, according to research.

It is also linked to reduced cancer, Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s disease risk.

What foods can you eat on the diet?

Mediterranean diet foods include lots of fuits, veg and nuts. There is an emphasis on fish.

Gino states on his website that the diet includes recipes full of flavour.

He said: “Recipes in The Italian Diet are full of fresh fish, lean meat, pulses, olive oil and a load of fruit and vegetables and it must be noted that The Italian Diet isn’t for serious weight loss, it’s a natural, feel-good diet that will become a way of life!”

This includes pork loin with white wine and sage pesto.

There is also a recipe for mixed seafood linguine with chilli and cherry tomatoes.

So, what does the blender diet involve?

Replacing two of your three daily meals with smoothies helps dieters on this plan shed weight.

These drinks are made up with plenty of vegetables and fruit.

A portion-controlled meal is also allowed each day – however slimmers must “chew longer” than usual, Dr Xand said.

Dairy, alcohol, fried foods, and sugar are banned.
