Google Home takes aim at Amazon Echo as prices slashed to new low

The battle of the smart speakers continues to rage on with Google and Amazon both vying for your attention.

These two tech giants have some of the most popular voice-powered gadgets on the market with the Google Home and Amazon Echo taking the world by storm.

Now it seems there’s an even bigger reason to splash out on smart speaker with some big discounts being revealed this week.

Amazon has cut the cost of two of its Alexa-powered devices with the Echo and Echo Dot both reduced.

Here’s all the discounts from Amazon.

It’s worth noting that although you can order the Echo Dot at this price Amazon has confirmed that it won’t ship until at least March 6.

Not to be outdone by its rival, Google has also now cut the cost of its smart speakers.

This means that you can currently buy the Google Home Mini for £29 and the standard Google Home for just £79 – one of the lowest ever prices.

At launch, the Google Home would have cost you £129 so Google is currently offering a £50 discount.

Both the Echo and Goole Home offer similar features with them able to switch on lights, answer questions, tell you the weather and read the latest news reports.

They can also play music and radio stations simply by speaking to them plus alarms and timers can be set with a simple command.

In our opinion, there’s very little to differentiate these devices with Google’s only advantage coming from the fact its smaller Home Mini is available right now – unlike the Echo Dot’s current delay.

If these speakers don’t take your fancy there is one final deal worth your attention.

Apple’s clever HomePod speaker is currently on sale with BT offering this device for £289.99 – saving £30.

John Lewis is also selling this music maker with three months free Apple Music and a two-year guarantee.

Although it is a lot more expensive than Google’s and Amazon’s offerings, the HomePod does have hugely improved sound with this device bringing one of the best audio experiences available right now.
