Dune remake cast: THIS Star Wars star is set to join the Dune remake cast

The original plot of the Dune movie reads: “In the year 10191, a spice called melange is the most valuable substance known in the universe, and its only source is the desert planet Arrakis. “A royal decree awards Arrakis to Duke Leto Atreides and ousts his bitter enemies, the Harkonnens. However, when the Harkonnens violently seize back their fiefdom, it is up to Paul, Leto’s son, to lead the Fremen, the natives of Arrakis, in a battle for control of the planet and its spice.”

What Star Wars star has signed onto the cast?

From a galaxy far, far away, Oscar Isaac will join the cast of the Dune remake as Leto I Atreides.

Isaac joins the likes of Timothee Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Stellan Skarsgard and Charlotte Rampling.

Chalamet plays Isaac’s son, Paul Atreides, with Ferguson taking on the role of Lady Jessica.

Skarsgard plays the villain Baron Harkonnen with Rampling playing Reverend Mother Mohiam.

Dave Bautista is also in the cast playing Glossu ‘Beast’ Rabban

This his second project with Denis Villeneuve, the director taking on the seemingly insurmountable project.

Bautista previously appeared briefly in Villeneuve’s Blade Runner 2049 and is best known for his role as Drax in the Guardians of the Galaxy series.

Villeneuve made a name for himself in the sci-fi genre with Arrival and the aforementioned Blade Runner sequel.

Villeneuve is co-writing the screenplay with Eric Roth and Jon Spaihts.

Isaac is in high demand but is perhaps best known as playing flyboy Poe Dameron in the new Star Wars trilogy.

Other than the still-untitled Star Wars Episode 9, Isaac is also starring in the upcoming Netflix movie Triple Frontier.

As of yet, Dune does not have a release date, however, many believe the adaptation will be out sometime in 2020.

Little else is known about the remake, but the original remains a cult classic.

The first Dune movie was directed by David Lynch in 1984.

Kyle MacLachlan, a frequent Lynch collaborator, played Paul Atreides.

Dune was considered a flop at the box office when it was released.

However, Lynch’s brand of surrealism and his continued status as a cult movie king has made Dune one of the most beloved sci-fi movies.

The film adaptation is based on the 1965 Frank Herbert novel of the same name.
