Dianne Oxberry: BBC presenter’s cause of death age 51 confirmed by her grieving husband

The tragic news of Dianne Oxberry’s death first emerged earlier this month, after she died on January 10. The 51-year-old’s spouse Ian Hindle, who she wed in 1993, spoke out in an interview with the Manchester Evening News. He said the BBC favourite was diagnosed with ovarian cancer, which she battled for a “very short” time. Her husband now plans to set up a charity to help other women diagnosed with the same disease.

He told the newspaper: “Dianne died in early January after a very short battle with ovarian cancer.”

Ian continued: ”The tragic impact was felt not only by her family and friends, but also by the wider public whose lives she touched across more than 20 years’ TV and radio presenting.

“The money raised will be used to help families and individuals who have, or are suffering from, this aggressive disease.”

He said he wanted to raise awareness of the “appalling” condition and its “after-effects, particularly where families have suffered sudden loss”.

He went on: “Dianne was an amazing wife and mother who embraced life to the full.

“She was an inspiration to all who knew and loved her but also to the people who watched and welcomed her into their homes each night as if she were part of their family too.

Ian added: ”She will leave a massive void in our lives but because of the remarkable person she was she will forever live on in our hearts. The children and I will miss her more than anyone can imagine.”
