Silent Witness spoilers: ‘Bit of warning?’ Viewers horrified by unexpected opening

Jack (played by David Caves) faced a tough investigation on Silent Witness tonight as a horrific murder led the team to investigate a crime connected to Belfast, with the lead forensic scientist facing the demons of his past.

The episode began with a quiet family Sunday roast dinner, but ended in disaster when the mother of the family, Olivia Walsh (Amanda Root) was killed in a car explosion.

However, viewers weren’t quite expecting the events to be so shocking only minutes into the BBC drama beginning.

Taking to Twitter, viewers voiced their shock at the attack, with one writing: “Wow I was NOT expecting that. Goodness! #SilentWitness.”

A second commented: “I never know what to expect at the start of a new #silentwitness . . . but I certainly never expected that.”

Another stated: “The remaining 115 minutes will go downhill into inexplicable plot, but that was a surprisingly great start to #silentwitness.”

Whilst a fourth exclaimed: “Bl***y hell just almost s*** myself at #silentwitness! Bit of warning next time??”

“Wasn’t expecting that #silentwitness #felloffmechair,” a fifth declared, with a sixth remarking: “Omg that made me jump #SilentWitness.”

“#SilentWitness Jumped out of my skin. Learned not to eat red food during this, but now I’m wearing my coffee,” a seventh explained.
