Emmerdale spoilers: Charity Dingle to betray Cain in shocking Joe Tate twist?

Tonight’s Emmerdale saw Debbie (played by Charley Webb) overcome with emotion as she believed her mum Charity (Emma Atkins) would protect her father Cain (Jeff Hordley) after learning about his involvement in Joe Tate’s (Ned Porteous) death.

Charity has been left feeling conflicted after learning Cain is partly responsible for Joe’s death.

Meanwhile, her daughter Debbie was furious her mum hasn’t taken her side and had been avoiding her.

She told Charity: “I told you this. I told you because you begged me to know what was happening but now it’s like you’re not even interested.”

But Charity defended herself: “All I am saying is, it must have been an accident.”

“Okay, so you’re taking his side. I knew you would, like everybody else. You hated Joe didn’t you?” Debbie hit back.

Charity replied: “Well he gave me enough reason to.”

“So what are you saying now? That’s you’re glad he’s dead,” Debbie shouted.

Trying to diffuse the situation, Charity said: “I knew how much you loved him. I wanted you to be happy. I wanted you to be happy so no I don’t wish he was dead.”

“So what should I do? I can’t live like this,” Debbie asked her mum.

Charity explained her daughter could go to the police and explain what happened to Joe.

But Debbie revealed she feared her family would turn against her folowing Cain’s arrest.

“I’ll back you,” Charity assured her.

Debbie asked: “You’ll go against your family would you?”

“You’re my family, so yeah. If that’s what you want, I’m with you all the way,” Charity replied.

Charity had been warned by Cain’s mother Faith Dingle (Sally Dexter) not to let Debbie continue the investigation into Joe’s death.

But with her daughter intent of getting justice for Joe, will Charity betray her ex?

It’s clear Charity doesn’t want to see Cain go down for Joe’s murder but with pressure from Debbie, will she cave in?

Fans will just have to wait and see who Charity will choose between Cain and Debbie.

Emmerdale airs weekdays on ITV at 7pm.
