Bohemian Rhapsody scene goes viral for all the WRONG reasons ‘It’s objectively bad’

The film has been a real smash hit at the box office and throughout awards season, with frontman Rami Malek in particular earning plaudit after plaudit. But it’s also been met with a strong backlash, and now a scene from early in the movie – in which the group meet manager Allen Leech – has been slammed online for its editing. Scroll down to watch.

A hilarious thread on Twitter has been borne out of one journalist, Pramit Chatterjee, highlighting the presentation of the scene.

“People, actual f**king people, are watching scene after scene like this and are saying ‘bruuuh! best. movie. of. the. year’?” he wrote.

“This is objectively bad. Someone with no idea about editing will notice it. My brain is on fire thinking that this is an OSCAR NOMINATED MOVIE! F**K!”

The video he attached to the tweet has had over a quarter of a million plays, with 6,500 Likes.

He added: “I JUST checked and the editor of #BohemianRhapsody is nominated for best editing. He’s actually nominated.. ha…hahahaha…I’m gonna lose my f**king mind.”

Among the many amusing replies, one read: “You can’t convince me all these ppl were ever actually on set together at the same time.”

“I counted 52 cuts in that 82 second scene, making the average shot around 1.57 seconds long. It’s 5(?) blokes sat at a table,” said another.

“i know next to nothing about editing but the amount of cuts this scene had gave me whiplash,” quipped a third.

“they got confused and thought it was the oscar for —most— editing,” joked someone else.

Screenwriter Aaron Stewart-Ahn even chimed in, saying: “Hahaha this is nominated for Best Editing over Roma, so I guess it’s an award for Most Editing really.”

“Did we really need to see every single side glance or nod of the head of every single character after every. Single. Sentence,” remarked yet another Twitter user.

Still, for all its detractors, there’s no denying that Bohemian Rhapsody has a huge fanbase.

It’s managed a record-breaking gross at the box office, and is still playing at many cinemas despite being on release three months.

It’s now nominated for Best Picture and Best Actor, among others, at the Oscars.

Bohemian Rhapsody is out now.
