Audi to unveil new compact electric car SOON – Debut date confirmed ahead of SUV launch

Audi is set to unveil a smaller version of the all-new e-Tron at the Geneva Motor Show 2019.

The event taking place this month will see the smaller crossover on display for the the first time, much sooner than expected.

It was not scheduled to make its debut until 2020 but the new vehicle is now set to make an appearance in a matter of weeks, according AutoExpress.

Originally the car was supposed to hit the roads in 2021, which could change seeing as the debut date has been brought forward.

It is the third model in the e-Tron range to be unveiled after the e-Tron SUV which is the core model and the e-Tron GT, which is a Tesla Model S rivalling saloon car.

The new smaller SUV is expected to built on Volkswagen’s MEB platform which will underpin the company’s upcoming I.D line.

Audi’s latest car is expected to be a ‘close to production’ model which will give motorists a good indication of what to expect.

In terms of size it is expected to be an electric equivalent to the Q3 but share most of the same design language of the larger e-Tron.

Its natural rivals are expected to be the Tesla Model Y when it launches, the Hyundai Kona EV and the Kia eNiro.

Not many specifics have been given about the car so its interior, battery pack size, and range are yet to be known.

However, it could be reasonable to guess there will be a 48kWh battery pack with around 200 miles of range an a larger more powerful model with a 60+kWh battery pack producing closer to 300-miles on a charge.
