Star Wars 9: Mark Hamill reveals Luke and Leia fight – Fans split over who was right

The Star Wars fandom is currently terribly divided after the backlash over The Last Jedi. Hamil himself (which, handily, is his Twitter handle) has started another fire with a recent revelation about Luke and Leia. It is a wonderful story about the early days filming the Original Trilogy with Carrie Fisher but it has started another fan division with devoted Star Wars followers unable to agree who is right about the Skywalker siblings. In this case, though, one side is definitely wrong.

Hamill was asked what was the silliest fight he had with Fisher and replied: “When they told us it would soon be revealed we were siblings. Me: “Wait a minute, If Luke is Princess Leia’s brother…does that make me royalty?” Her: (without a moment of hesitation ) “NO!!!” I didn’t really care, but she really, REALLY did, so I never let it go-EVER. “

But who was right?

One fan immediately started the debate by commenting: “Luke actually is a prince. Leia is royalty through her biological mother.”

Except they are totally wrong, aren’t they?

Yes, Leia is a Princess, but not because Padme was Queen of Naboo.

If that was the case, then Luke would have been a prince, too.

Except, Padme’s title was an honorary and elected position. She later became a senator for her planet, after her term as Queen was completed.

Leia was actually a princess through her adopted parents, Senator Bail Organa and his wifeQueen Breha Organa.

With so much in dispute over the Star Wars franchise, it is a relief to have a simple and clear answer, for once.

More importantly, the post continues to show just how delightful the real-life relationship was between Hamill and Fisher, who remain the undisputed king and queen of a galaxy far, far away.

STAR WARS 9 IS OUT ON DECEMBER 19
