PlayStation rumours surrounding Bloodborne 2 on PS4 Inconvenienced Sony – Miyazaki

There’s no doubt that Bloodborne proved a massive success as an exclusive PS4 game title.

And due to it being such a big deal among From Software fans, they’ve been on the lookout since for any news on a sequel.

Having originally launched in 2015, there’s been plenty of time for a new PlayStation exclusive to be created and launched.

However, not so much as a hint has been revealed by the developer behind the hit action role-playing game.

Bloodborne director Hidetaka Miyazaki spoke on the subject of the game and the hype surrounding a sequel.

Speaking on the subject of the game’s success, Miyazaki revealed that a recent Bloodborne Easter egg unexpectedly built a lot of hype around a sequel being announced.

This came from a doll being included in the PlayStation VR release of Deracine, which fans thought contained a big teaser for Bloodborne 2.

Deracine features an item referred to as the Fiona Doll, which contains an interesting nod to Bloodborne.

The item description reads: “A doll of the stone girl Fiona, who appears in the unfinished tale.

“When a person has a bad dream, Fiona appears and helps them flee.”

The doll is also performing the ‘Make Contact’ gesture, which could suggest that the Bloodborne tale isn’t over. However, according to the Bloodborne director, this was meant to be a little surprise for fans of the series and nothing more.

The Easter egg went far beyond what it was designed for and From Software felt like they had put unfair pressures on Sony.

“With Déraciné, that was released recently for VR, we had an ode to Bloodborne in there,” Miyazaki told Game Informer. Both titles are published by Sony. Actually, that reference, that nod itself caused a much greater stir than we expected.

“Way more than we expected. When we were given that idea like, ‘Why don’t you just put a little nod in there? It’d be great.’ And we tried it, and it blew up. So, we just want to tread a little bit more carefully around that front.”

“You know, it wasn’t so much that they read too much into it, it was just supposed to be a little homage, but people kind of expected Bloodborne 2 and it kind of got a little bit crazy,” Miyazaki continued.

“So, we feel like we caused a great inconvenience to Sony, and that was really not our intention.”

There has been no official talk on the release of Bloodborne 2 from either Sony PlayStation or From Software, although it would likely prove a great seller on the PS4 or Sony’s next console.

But until something is officially announced by both companies, it’s probably worth calling off the search for any further secret hints of a sequel.
