Fortnite Save the World free code latest as Epic reveal big update plans

Fans are ready to start playing Fortnite Save the World via new free code access.

Epic Games announced last year that while they still want to make it available for everyone to play, it needed more work before that could happen.

This includes adding new features, providing reworks, as well as beefing up the backend system to deal with the added demand.

This is expected to happen in stage, with new updates being released periodically in 2019 to facilitate the changes.

And it appears one large feature change is coming to the game very soon.

Epic Games has announced that they are changing how the loot boxes work in Fortnite Save the World.

New “X-Ray” Llamas are replacing the V-Buck Llamas, with the big difference being that they will now show you the contents before you purchase it.

If you’re not interested in what the Llama offers, then you can wait until the daily store refresh, and there will be a new selection.

This change is bringing Save the World more in line with the Battle Royale Item Shop and is set to begin with the launch of Fortnite update 7.30.

When that patch drops, Llamas available in the V-bucks store will show it’s contents without requiring a purchase.

Here’s more from Epic Games, who confirmed in a new statement: “You will no longer be able to purchase multiple V-Buck Llamas at once when this feature launches.

“We are making this change so we can show you the rewards of each Llama one at a time, which gives you more choice in the Llamas you decide to open.

“Mini Llamas and event Llamas are still normal Llamas, not X-Ray Llamas. By keeping them as normal Llamas, you can still bulk open these with resources earned through gameplay.

“After the (X-Ray) Llama has determined the item rarity and type of drop (Epic or Legendary Hero, Weapon, or Schematic) it will select an item from that category that is not already in your inventory or Collection Book. This applies to Epic, Legendary and Mythic Heroes, Epic and Legendary Schematics and Mythic Lead Survivors.”

As a bonus connected to the changes, Save the World players will receive 5 free Llama Upgrade Tokens to try out the new system.

This could be just one of a number of new updates coming to Save the World before the launch of free codes.

And it certainly sounds like Epic Games are in no rush to make the big switch to free-to-play.

“Save the World has grown consistently since our launch in July 2017, and Fortnite overall has experienced unprecedented growth,” Epic Games explains.

“Scaling up for the legions of player heroes who will be joining the fight is key to providing an excellent experience. This applies to all of our players, old and new, so we’re taking the time to get this right.”

There is currently no release date other than the fact that Fortnite Save the World will be available to play for free on PS4, Xbox One and PC before the end of 2019.

Epic Games has also ruled out the original Fortnite mode being released on mobile platforms, like Battle Royale.
