Debbie McGee news: Star 'open to finding love' as she spills on Giovanni Pernice 'spark'

Debbie McGee, 60, who underwent surgery to remove two tumours in her left breast last week, revealed her breast cancer scare has made her determined to find love again.

The former magician’s assistant said her late husband Paul Daniels, who died aged 77 from a brain tumour three years ago, gave her the blessing to move on.

Debbie told The Sun: “It’s made me think even more to make the most of today and I would say I’m open to finding love again.

She added: “If it happens, it happens. If it doesn’t, it doesn’t. But how wonderful if it did.”

Debbie admitted she and Paul talked about her finding romance again, due to their 20 year age gap.

Whilst competing on Strictly Come Dancing in 2017, Debbie was surrounded by romance rumours with fans commenting on her “spark” with professional partner Giovanni Pernice.

The age-defying beauty has now admitted they had a “special relationship” and an indescribable “electricity’ between them.

Speaking about the Italian hunk, she spilled to the publication: “We have a very special relationship because we absolutely adore each other, but it certainly wasn’t a romance.

“Once or twice in your life, you meet someone you totally respect, you totally get on with.

“I can’t describe what it is or why it happens. Every time I saw Giovanni last year — and when I danced with him on his tour — there’s some sort of electricity that happens that I can’t describe.”

Giovanni, 28, was paired with Faye Tozer on Strictly Come Dancing but the dancer ended up falling for co-star Ashley Roberts.

The pair have now gone Instagram official with their romance and have been sharing videos and pictures on their accounts.

Earlier this week, Giovanni uploaded a sweet snap of him and Ashley, 37, posing together on jet ski.

The two beamed away as they enjoyed quality time together soaking up the sun following the BBC One series.

Elsewhere, Debbie opened up on her secret battle with breast cancer on Friday

The star discovered cancerous tissues during a routine breast screening back in October.

The BBC Radio Berkshire host said she has regular mammograms every two years and feels like the “luckiest person in the world” to have caught the breast cancer early.

Debbie has now received the all-clear but said she must now rest for six weeks to let her wounds heal after undergoing the operation.

The performer recently finished appearing in the Sleeping Beauty pantomime in Wolverhampton.

The star appeared to enjoy her time on stage as she uploaded a picture wit her co-stars alongside the caption: “Last panto warm up with our fantastic dancers. Miss you already.”
