Persona 5 UPDATE: Is this when Persona 5 R will get REVEALED? Latest Atlus news

Persona 5 fans are set for a big year in 2019.

Persona 5 is arguably the best JRPG of this generation and developers Atlus look to have major plans in store for this year.

At the end of last year the mysterious Persona 5 R project was revealed, with a teaser trailer shown that didn’t give away too much.

Fans were teased that “new projects” were coming with a “2019.3” graphic appearing on screen – teasing a reveal for March of this year.

And Persona 5 fans look to now know when more information on P5R could be revealed.

Sega has announced that they will be hosting Sega Fes on March 30 and 31 in the legendary area of Akihabara in Tokyo.

Last year Sega Ages titles, the Sega Mega Drive Mini and the release of Shenmue 1 and 2 for PS4, Xbox One and PCs were announced at Sega Fes.

Joining the dots, Sega Fes is taking place in March this year – the month that the Persona 5 R teaser hinted that more news would be coming.

So it looks like more news on what’s next for the Phantom Thieves could be revealed at the event in March.

It wouldn’t be a surprise to see an announcement on what Persona 5 R is made at Sega Fes with a fuller, more in-depth look at the project revealed at the upcoming Persona concert.

A month after Sega Fes, the Persona Super Live concert will be held in Sumida, Tokyo.

Live versions of some of the awesome hits from throughout the iconic JRPG series’ history will be performed during the Persona concert.

The last time a Persona Super Live concert was held was back in 2017, and during that event a number of major announcements were made.

Persona 3 Dancing Moon Night and Persona 5 Dancing Star Night were all revealed as was the 3DS title Persona Q2,.

So it’s likely Atlus will once again have some big announcements in store for the latest Persona Super Live concert.

Ever since it was first teased, fans have been left wondering what Persona 5 R could be.

One of the biggest rumours is that the Nintendo Switch could be getting its version of Persona 5, which would be like what Persona 4 Golden was to the original P4.

And there are a number of features that developers wanted to include in Persona 5 which they didn’t get round to that could make the cut for P5R.

One of those features that developers originally planned was having Hifumi Togo as a full blown party member for the Phantom Thieves.

But instead the shogi player became a confidant in Persona 5.

Maybe Persona 5 R will include extra features that developers had originally planned but – for one reason or another – weren’t able to include.

Another rumour that could show what Persona 5 R is relates to a recent ratings classification.

As reported in a post by Nintendo Life, Persona Q2 – the 3DS Etrian Odyssey-like dungeon crawler – has been rated by the Australian Classification Board.

But, interestingly, Persona Q2 is labelled as a multi platform release. Could Persona Q2 be coming to the Nintendo Switch?

And is Persona 5 R a bundle of the original Persona 5 as well as Persona Q2 for the Switch?

Finally, the other possibility is that Persona 5 R is a brand new fighting game which follows on from the Persona 4 Arena games.

The last Persona fighting game – Persona 4 Arena Ultimax – came out in Japan in 2013 and in the UK in 2014.

Fans of the series would surely love a new addition which features a roster of Persona 5 characters.

However, the developer of the previous Persona fighting games – Arc System Works – is currently busy working on Granblue Fantasy Versus.

But if anyone can juggle multiple fighting game projects at the same time, which result in excellent final products, then it’s Arc System Works.

Last year they released both Dragon Ball FighterZ and BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle – so they have form in preparing multiple, high profile releases at the same time.
