Leeds United transfer news: Marcelo Bielsa gives update on three Fulham players

The 63-year-old saw his side come back from a goal down to beat Rotherham 2-1 on Saturday, with two second-half goals from midfielder Mateusz Klich.

Leeds, who now hold a three-point lead over second-placed Norwich City, are top of the Championship after 29 games.

Bielsa has overseen a transformation at the club, as he bids to return Leeds to the Premier League in his debut season.

However, Bielsa admitted he was unsure about what business Leeds would do ahead of Thursday’s transfer deadline.

“I don’t have any certainty about new players coming in,” Bielsa said.

“If we can welcome players better than our players it would be good.

“As long as they are better.”

It’s a sentiment he has expressed before.

The Elland Road side have been linked with THREE players from Fulham and also Swansea City winger Daniel James.

The Cottagers are said to be happy to move on Stefan Johansen, Floyd Ayite and Neeskens Kebano, reports the Birmingham Mail.

January has been an eventual month at Elland Road and these last few days could see even more action.

In their five games this month, Leeds have lost three, won two, were knocked out of the FA Cup and became embroiled in a spying scandal – with the latter still yet to be resolved.

After the final whistle at the New York Stadium in South Yorkshire, Bielsa reacted with an emotional celebration, to the enjoyment of Leeds fans.

The former manager of Argentina and Chile was seen embracing his assistant at the end of the game.

As for Rotherham manager Paul Warne, he joked about Bielsa and Spygate at the end of the game, as he insisted the Argentine couldn’t have prepared for Rotherham’s opening goal.

“There’s no way Bielsa would have prepared for that because I haven’t even seen it in training, let alone anyone else,” Warne said.

“[Semi Ajayi] hit it sweetly and he can score goals.”

Bielsa was pleased to see his side work hard for their victory in a game where he gave a debut to former Real Madrid goalkeeper Kiko Casilla.

“It was a necessary win. We still have many games to play,” Bielsa said.

“The goalkeeper did not have a lot of work to do with some mid-distance saves and he had some aerial work at the end of the game.

“From my point of view it was very difficult to avoid the goal we conceded and he had a balanced performance.”

Leeds next game is going to be an important one as they prepare for a top of the table clash against Norwich at home next Saturday.
