A crowdfunding campaign has raised more than £150,000 in a bid to help find missing Sala and Ibbotson after the official search was called off.
The page was set up in the name of Sport Cover, the firm run by Sala’s agent Meissa N’Diaye.
A message on the page features the Spanish hashtag #NoDejenDeBuscar Emiliano Sala which means Don’t Stop Looking for Emiliano Sala.
It says: “This fund was created in response to the urgency of the situation and the authorities’ decision not to pursue the search.
“Its sole objective, through a specialised non-profit organisation, is to help the family of Emiliano and pilot Dave Ibbotson continue the search.
“Thank you for helping with the amount you want.”
Lionel Messi, Sergio Aguero and Diego Maradona are all among current and former stars wanting the search to continue.
