will.i.am weight loss: How The Voice UK coach lost 20lbs – diet plan REVEALED

Travelling the world for work and having an action-packed schedule may be what many people dream of, however despite the obvious perks, that’s not to say that it doesn’t have its downsides. The often inevitable late nights and early mornings for one, can wreak havoc on a person’s attempts to live a healthy lifestyle. Last year, will.i.am opened up on how his poor sleep schedule, and subsequent overeating, had seen him pile on the pounds. The Voice UK coach, 43, revealed he had changed how he lived his life, leading him to lose 20 lbs – which works out at just shy of one and a half stone.

So, how did will.i.am lose so much weight?

Weighing in at 15lbs, the singer and tech entrepreneur decided to change the types of food he was eating.

Taking action on the processed food he’d been binging on, will.i.am also strived to improve his sleep quality.

Having previously insisted that he only needed two hours of slumber per night, the star had been heading to bed at around 5am and having “cat naps”.

At that point in his life, the star’s doctor had also been concerned about his high blood pressure and cholesterol.

In a bid to better his health, will.i.am began to follow a plant-based diet and upped the amount of sleep he was getting.

“It changed my life,” he told Arianna Huffington on her Thrive Global podcast last year.

“I lost 20 lbs. My cholesterol came down, my high blood pressure came down.”

The singer songwriter continued: “My stress levels came down naturally. I have more energy.

“My sleep regimen is awesome.”

A plant-based diet differs to the vegan diet in that the former has fewer strict guidelines, with the focus being on eating whole fruits and vegetables and minimising the intake of animal products and processed foods for health reasons.

On the other hand, vegans aim to avoid “all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to, animals for food, clothing, or any other purpose”, The Vegan Society explains.

Fellow TV star Katie Piper, who appeared in the 2018 series of Strictly Come Dancing has also spoken about her weight loss.

The 35-year-old brought out the lifestyle book, The Healthy Happy Mum Plan, with diet guru Terri Ann Nunns, which advocates the intermittent fasting method.

Speaking to Express.co.uk recently, the model and author revealed she had dramatically reduced her consumption of alcohol, which had helped her to achieve visible abdominal muscles.

The mother-of-two said: “I don’t drink a lot of alcohol, I find alcohol bloats you and it makes you make bad food choices the next day.”
