Weight loss tips: The ‘only way’ to lose weight and shift belly fat REVEALED

Whether it’s a couple of pounds or a major lifestyle overhaul, weight loss is something many people choose to pursue. And from rediscovering confidence to taking better care of your health, losing those extra pounds can mean a lot. For many, shifting excess fat from one particular area can be their main aim – be that bingo wings or belly fat. So, is it possible to slim one section of your body, and what is the best way to lose weight in general?

In order to get the answers, Express.co.uk contacted an expert in the industry: Cecilia Harris – a personal trainer who co-founded the online fitness platform Results with Lucy, alongside Lucy Mecklenburgh.

And, during an exclusive interview, the personal trainer explained that “spot training” one particular section of a body just isn’t possible.

Rather than reducing fat in one area, she explained how humans instead tend to shift weight from all areas of the body.

However, that’s not to say that some people won’t notice particular areas seeming slimmer than others at first, she pointed out.

Cecilia said: “You start losing weight from all parts of your body and it could be from your tummy first, or it could be from your legs, or your bottom – but in general, it’s just going to come off everywhere.”

So, what is the best way to losing body fat? Cecilia said the answer was – in theory – quite simple.

“It’s about dieting. It’s about creating a calorie deficit,” she said.

“It’s the only way you’re going to lose body fat.”

The personal trainer dubbed this the “most important thing you can ever do to lose weight or body fat,” and explained that there is no one particular way of doing this – due to everyone having their own reaction to different diet plans.

“There are so many different types of diet out there, but they’re all the same,” she said – insisting all diet plans are aimed at creating that all-important calorie deficit.

Cecilia also discussed why some women in particular would encounter fat on their stomach.

“We [women] always hold our fat around our tummy because the body is very smart,” the fitness expert said.

“It wants to protect its reproductive system, so that’s where it stores fat.

“It will always be the hardest part to lose the fat from.

“But, going on a diet, trying to create that calorie deficit is what’s going to help you lose body fat.”
