WILL THERE BE A VIKINGS SPIN-OFF SERIES?

What will happen in Vikings season 5, episode 20?

WARNING: This article contains spoilers for Vikings season 5

The synopsis for Ragnarok reads: “A new battle for Kattegat is on and only the gods know who will emerge victorious.”

A promo trailer hints at what is going to be an incredibly dramatic battle episode.

It opens with a close up of Bjorn (Alexander Ludwig), with his face covered in war paint and blood.

A voiceover says: “Once more brother will fight against brother and the world will be wrecked.”

Elsewhere Bjorn is sitting by a fire and he completes the saying: “And then worlds will burn and the gods will die.”

Then Harald (Peter Franzén) adds: “Ragnarok.” This is, of course, the name of the episode.

HOW MANY SEASONS OF VIKINGS WILL THERE BE?

According to the Merriam Webster dictionary, the word Ragnarok is old Norse and means: “The final destruction of the world in the conflict between the Aesir and the powers of Hel led by Loki.”

Next, on the battlefield, Bjorn screams for Ivar ho mocks his brother and tells him he’s too late.

Ivar commands his men to “burn them alive” and unidentified bodies are seen engulfed in flames as he looks on and laughs.

Then Lagertha (Kathryn Winnick) emerges with her sword alongside Bjorn.

The final shot is Bjorn lying on the ground screaming in pain.

Another extended clip of the episode opens with a close up of Bjorn preparing to fight on the battlefield having returned to Kattegat.

Bjorn leads a scrum on a battering ram as Ivar looks on gleefully, inviting his opponents – his brothers no less – to battle.

Just as Bjorn and his men approach the castle gates, Ivar calls for his archers to shoot, taking out men left and right.

All signs indicate that this will not be an easy battle for Lagerta’s army, or what’s left of it.

With Ivar starting off with the upper hand, fans will be on the edge of their seats hoping for a Bjorn victory.

A number of big character deaths may also happen as this battle is sure to create a high body count.

Not much else is revealed in the clip, suggesting that the battle will take up a lot of the finale.

Vikings season 5, episode 20 will air on January 30 on History and January 31 on Amazon Prime
