ITV This Morning: ‘I’m always right!’ Ruth Langsford shuts down Eamonn Holmes

Ruth Langsford, 58, was joined by Eamonn Holmes, 59, to present the Friday edition of the show and began the programme by explaining to viewers what was coming up.

The couple crossed over to Deidre, 73, who was asking This Morning viewers to get in touch if they had any worries playing on their mind.

As she suggested viewers could get in touch if they had a row with someone, Eamonn teased his wife by asking Deidre a question regarding marital tiffs.

Jokingly hitting back at her husband, Ruth told Eamonn she is always right when it comes to their own arguments.

Eamonn asked Deidre: “Well, Dearr Deidre, what is your advice for someone who instigates rows and then never, ever apologises for it?”

Ruth turned to her husband and said: “How does that feel?”

As she knows the couple often had comical tiffs with one another, Deidre was heard laughing in the background.

The agony aunt replied: “I know better than to go treading into this dodgy territory.”

Returning to Eamonn in the main studio, the presenter jokingly hit back at Deidre: “And you call yourself an agony aunt?”

With Ruth telling viewers how to get in touch, Eamonn turned to her and said: “Why don’t you ever say sorry?”

Ready with her reply, Ruth shut down her husband, telling him: “Because I’m never wrong.”

Eamonn was quickly silenced as he mouthed “Oh” at the camera and looked away.

After the comical tiff, the pair then continued with the rest of the show.

Later in the show, the couple interviewed actor Richard E. Grant, 61, about his first Oscar nomination for the award of Best Supporting Actor in the film, Can You Ever Forgive Me?

Viewers were in awe of Richard appearing on the This Morning sofa, with one writing on Twitter: “Richard E Grant is such a lovely down to earth bloke #thismorning.”

Another added: “@thismorning How humble and down to earth is Richard E. Grant. There is someone with REAL talent. So refreshing. Absolutely loved him in Withnail & I #ThisMorning.”

On Sunday, the couple were on hand to present the first show of the weekend edition of This Morning, which will continue for the next nine weeks.

However, viewers were divided about the Sunday edition, with one writing on Twitter: “So this is basically just a ‘best of’ highlight show of repeats from the last week?? What a waste of time! #Thismorning.”

Another added: “So, #ThisMorning on Sunday is basically a repeat of the past week… no point watching. @thismorning @ITV.”

However, a third commented: “ThisMorning #OnSunday? My weekends are made! Love @EamonnHolmes and @RuthieeL! Feet up and cup of tea for the next hour! Housework can wait xx.”

A fourth remarked: “@thismorning ARE YOU KIDDING ME !! #thismorning ON A SUNDAY ? My life just can’t get any better.”

This Morning airs weekdays at 10.30am on ITV.
