Mate 20 Pro has a cheaper Huawei rival that outclasses some of its best features

Huawei Mate 20 Pro debuted in October and has since established itself as one of the best smartphone offerings around.

That is because the Mate 20 Pro not only delivers Android fans with a host of flagship features, but it also flaunts functions that are truly innovative.

The Chinese OEM’s handset comes with a 6.39-inch AMOLED display, a huge 4,200mAh battery and a rapid processor.

Mate 20 Pro also flaunts a triple-camera system that is one of the most diverse on the market.

Huawei’s phone comes with a 40-megapixel main sensor that is accompanied by a 20-megapixel wide-angle lens and an 8-megapixel telephoto system.

Wide-angle sensors are still relatively rare on other smartphone systems but allow for unique shots to be taken thanks to its ability to fit more subjects into a single frame.

Huawei’s Kirin 980 chipset is housed inside the Mate 20 Pro and offers swift performance across Google’s Android 9 Pie operating system.

The Mate 20 Pro launched for, and is still priced at, £899.99 from a number of UK retailers.

However, Huawei recently started selling its monstrous Mate 20 X handset, that has a number of similar features, for £799.99.

Such a device appears to present Android fans with a tantalising alternative to the Chinese OEM’s Pro handset.

The Mate 20 X comes with a colossal 7.2-inch AMOLED display that offers a resolution of 1080×2244 and a density of 346-pixels-per-inch.

In addition to featuring a much larger display than the Mate 20 Pro, the X also flaunts a much smaller notch.

The Mate 20 X comes with a teardrop-shaped notch at the top of its panel as opposed to the larger cutout offered by the Mate 20 Pro.

Powering the humungous handset is the same Kirin 980 processor inside the Mate 20 Pro along with 6GB of RAM.

Additionally, the Mate 20 X comes with the same triple-lens camera system, meaning the device is capable of taking similarly gorgeous photos.

Where the Mate 20 X trumps the Mate 20 Pro is certainly in the battery department with the former arriving with a colossal 5,000mAh pack.

The 800mAh capacity difference between the two devices means the Mate 20 X should provide similar, if not better, battery life when compared to the Mate 20 Pro when its larger, but lower resolution, screen is taken into account.

Unlike the Mate 20 Pro, the Mate 20 X does not come with a fingerprint sensor underneath its display.

Instead the handset opts for a traditional reader that is placed on the rear of the phablet.

It is also worth noting the Mate 20 X comes with a headphone jack, unlike the Mate 20 Pro.

Just like its more expensive rival, the Mate 20 X also comes pre-installed Huawei’s EMUI 9 skin running on top of Android 9 Pie.

Huawei launched the Mate 20 X in the UK earlier this month – the device costs £100 less than the Mate 20 Pro, coming in at £799.99.
