Galaxy S8 boost as Samsung set to release major update NEXT MONTH

February is shaping up to be a big month for Samsung fans.

The Korean technology firm has already announced it will be holding a major Unpacked event where it is expected to reveal the new Galaxy S10.

This device could bring a swathe of upgrades to the popular phone brand including a fully edge-to-edge screen, faster processor and triple rear camera.

This will clearly be a big update but there’s also good news for those owning the older Galaxy S8.

Samsung has slowing begun rolling out its big Android 9 Pie upgrade with the Galaxy S9 the first on the list to receive this latest operating system.

Originally the S8 wasn’t expected to get Android 9 until March but that’s now changed with the Korean firm just revealing the update will now arrive in February.

In the latest schedule from Samsung, spotted by SamMobile, the firm has said the Galaxy S8 and S8+ will both get 9 Pie next month.

Along with the S8, the Galaxy Note 8 will also get this upgrade soon followed in March by the Galaxy A6, A8 and A9.

If you own a Galaxy S8 then this is clearly exciting news but it’s worth noting that although Samsung will begin the rollout in February it make take longer before it arrives on all devices.

Firstly, Samsung usually pushes out these updates in phases which means not everyone gets the upgrade at the same time.

Then there’s also the issue if you have a Samsung phone on contract with a mobile operator as these firms have to test the upgrade before releasing it across their networks.

This blockbuster 9 Pie operating system, which Samsung calls One UI, brings a swathe of new features and an updated look to this popular device.

Included in the upgrade is a customisable Night Mode which adjusts the screen’s tone, brightness and contrast to offer users a more focused and comfortable viewing experience.

A new interface also makes navigating bigger-screen phones simple by effectively splitting the display in half and it also pares down the amount of information on the display, offering users a more focused and fluid experience.

Along with new features, there’s a big new look coming to One UI with Samsung saying its design has a focus on beauty and consistency.

The rounded corners of the interface’s app icons and focus blocks are perfect examples of this attention to detail.

Standardising these design elements not only enhances the UI’s aesthetic appeal but it also creates pleasing consistency with the rounded corners of Galaxy devices.

Discussing One UI, Samsung revealed: “One UI helps you focus on what really matters to you.

“With hardware and software working together in harmony, see only what you need, using and viewing your phone with an experience that feels second nature.

“Because it’s the small details that make a big difference.

“Standardising these design elements not only enhances the UI’s aesthetic appeal but it also creates pleasing consistency with the rounded corners of Galaxy devices.”
