Kit Harington: Game Of Thrones star reveals why he's glad HBO show is ending

Kit Harington, 32, said he hardly saw his pals while filming for the hit series Game Of Thrones and insisted it will be a relief when he can be “in the same room” with them again. The actor said: “I’m looking forward to the celebrating of it, I’m looking forward to seeing my mates again, it’s very few times now when we will all be in the same room.” But despite looking forward to some freedom, he added he has been “grieving” over the show coming to an end. He added: “I’m really strangely calm about it all, and I think that’s probably kind of one of the signs of grieving or something, I don’t know.

“I’ve reached that point of going, ‘Oh well that’s done’ and I know there’s going to be one last kind of feeling of ‘Wow, that’s over and done’.”

And while Kit has moved on with new movie How To Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World, he said “you’ll never find another Thrones”.

The actor added: “When something finishes there’s an emotional upheaval but really you just want to be around the people that you made it with, and that’s what we’re going to do to celebrate.

“I’m looking forward to whatever the next thing is. You know, you’ll never find another Thrones, I don’t think.”

Last week, Kit, who is married to his co-star Rose Leslie, spoke out about the upcoming trailer to the show’s eighth and final series, which will air in April.

Within the trailer, Kit’s character can be seen walking through the vaults of the Winterfell Crypts.

Jon and his co-stars Sansa Stark (played by Sophie Turner) and Arya Stark (Maisie Williams) are seen being confronted by statues which appear to show their own image.

Discussing this on Zoe Ball’s BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show, he said: “I kept that statue… the one in the crypt. They sent it to my house.

“I’ve got it in my shed,” he revealed. “How sad is that?”

Kit went on to say his co-stars didn’t keep their statues, adding: “I was the only one who kept that statue.

“That’s how narcissistic I am. I’m going to turn it into a water feature.”

Kit also teased the final series will be “extraordinary”.

He said: “I’m so excited for people to see it.

“Hopefully it changes TV again like it did before, I think it will.”

Game of Thrones season 8 will return to HBO and Sky Atlantic on April 14.

Seasons 1-7 are currently streaming on NOW TV.
