Carol Kirkwood: BBC star concerns fans after revealing worrying hazard near her home

Carol Kirkwood worried fans when she shared a post on Twitter, revealing her horror when she saw a stretch of ice close to her home.

The 56-year-old BBC Breakfast reporter told her 148,000 followers: “[It] was like an ice rink round my way this morning.”

Emphasising the seriousness of the situation, the broadcaster added a scared face emoji at the end of her thread.

Shortly after the message was posted fans of the star began flooding her comment section with messages of concern.

One fearful fan wrote: “Be careful we do not want you injuring yourself.”

A second person added: “Good morning Carol, take care out there, it’s really cold.”

Two other commentators said: “Take care gorgeous girl” and “Be careful Carol.”

Someone else joked: “Careful Carol. When you’re running late and they say get your skates on, I don’t think that’s quite what they mean!”

Carol recently revealed the great lengths she had gone to in order to see the Super Blood Wolf Moon on Monday morning.

The radio presenter was keen to catch a glimpse of the lunar eclipse in the early hours of January 21.

However, the elements were against her and she missed out on the experience.

In a post shared on Twitter, she wrote: “Anyone seen the ‘super blood moon’? Too much cloud here.”

The BBC star was soon inundated with fans’ pictures of the Super Blood Wolf Moon, several of which she retweeted.

She later added: “Thank you for your moon piccies. They are awesome.”(sic)

“Very jealous as didn’t see it… despite driving for 25 miles… too much cloud (and eyes on the road obviously!)” she said.

Responding to Carol, one fan replied: “Always a pleasure to send them to you, Carol, and thanks for the retweets. It makes a change for the western Pennines to be clear whilst the Thames Valley is overcast, so we’ll try not to gloat too much.”

“Very stormy here all day, but it’s clear now and I was able to see the moon,” another said, joking: “But it’s very windy and about eight degrees at the moment.”

“So clear in Aberdeen overnight,” a third chipped in. “Very lucky to see it.”

A fourth wasn’t so lucky, commenting: “I thought I might of had a good chance of seeing it cause it was so cold… popped my head outside and it was overcast booooo.”(sic)

BBC Breakfast airs weekdays on BBC One at 6am.
