Ant and Dec win ANOTHER huge award after responding to NTA 2019 win backlash

Ant McPartlin, 43, and Declan Donnelly, 43, announced to their 2.9 million followers they are new Guinness World Record holders for the most National Television Awards for Best Presenter won consecutively after scooping the gong 18 years in a row.

The pair appeared delighted with the win and grinned from ear-to-ear in the photo as they held their certificate.

They captioned the post: “The lovely folks from @guinnessworldrecords came down to #BGT auditions today and surprised us with these. How lovely! Thank you X.”

Ant and Dec’s followers commented in their droves to support the duo on their Guinness World Record award.

One person said: “Congratulations you definitely deserve it.”

“Well done the best on telly,” another added.

A third commented: “Brilliant, so so pleased for you both.”

It comes after they took home the Best Presenter award last night, following Ant’s absence on TV.

Piers Morgan wasn’t happy about them both winning after Ant stepped down from his TV commitments following a drink drive conviction last year.

And Ant and Dec appeared to respond to those who didn’t believe they should have won as they retweeted a Twitter account which explained how many shows Ant presented last year.

They wrote: “To those of you who are hating: Ant McPartlin hosted all 6 of the @BGT audition episodes last year & 3 of the @ITVTakeaway live shows, so he is eligible & they both deserve it. #NTAs.”

Following their National Television Award win, the presenters uploaded a selfie to their account of them flashing huge smiles to the camera.

Ant could be seen punching a fist pump into the air while Dec posed with him arm around his pal.

They wrote beside it: “Thank you doesn’t seem to cover it this year.

“We are humbled and honoured that you have chosen us at the #NTAs.”

They continued: “We are so appreciative of your support and good wishes. Thank you again. Now back to work at BGT auditions! xx.”

Ant and Dec’s win was presented by SAS: Who Dares Wins star Ant Middleton, 38, at the event.

The SAS star appeared on Chris Evans’ Virgin Radio Breakfast show this morning where he made a surprising revelation about the gong.

The ex-special forces solider said: “I presented the NTA for best TV presenter to Ant and Dec last night. Because they weren’t there, I took the award.”

Noting the fact he shares the same name with the Geordie star, he continued: ”Obviously, Ant, I thought, right, it’s mine. So I just left with it.”

“I’ve got it at home!,” he chuckled.
