There’s no doubt that Sony Ericsson’s fabulous range of Walkman phones are among the best music phones on the planet (and in my opinion, the best!) Up until recently, though, the ‘super-thin’ Walkman has been somewhat… well, let’s say ‘underepresented’. In that category, in the super-thin Walkaman music mobile phone’ realm, Sony Ericsson had the W880i and… well, that was about it, really. And to be fair, the W880i wasn’t the greatest phones ever made.
But now, there’s a new kid on the block, and it neatly exorcises any bad feelings one might have had after using a Sony Ericsson W880i. Called the Sony Ericsson W890i (a stunningly unexpected name……) it combines a metal body with the super-slim-ness of its predecessor, a 3 megapixel camera, 3G data speeds and the latest Walkman player, to make a super-slim-Walkman-music mobile phone that: 1/ is actually something you want to own, and 2/ won’t make you pull your hair out in frustration!
Sony Ericsson W890i – what makes it so special?
That’s a good question, because with so many music phones out there, the Sony Ericsson W890i surely must have something to set it apart, right? Well… if I’m honest… not really. I mean, there’s no doubt it is powerful; the 3 megapixel camera produces some really luscious photos, and the internet connection, running at 3G speeds, is nice and fast. Then, of course, there’s the music player, which is the latest version of Sony Ericsson’s Walkman music player. And yes, it is awesome, and it is packed with features like MegaBass, to make your music sound as awesome as possible. But this version of the player is available on other phones too, so why go for this one?
Well, the answer’s simple. I’ve discussed how many features Sony Ericsson have squeezed into the W890i. But I also told you it falls under the heading of a ‘super-slim phone’ (hands up anyone who forgot I said that). Which means… IT’S TINY!! And that, right there, is why I love the Sony Ericsson W890i. It’s kind of like the David Copperfield of mobile phones, in that you look at it, and think, “How did they do that?!” There’s no doubt it’s a massive achievement to squeeze all the clever stuff that they have into such a thin body, and for that, it really is a surprisingly fabulous mobile phone!
