The 38-year-old Good Morning Britain favourite warned of freezing temperatures in the UK on Friday, sharing a picture of the map with her 161,000 Twitter followers. Lucy Verasamy circled some of the coldest temperatures, saying: “Spot the lowest temps: -11C in Scotland, -7C N England and -4C fit the rest of us.”(sic) One fan noticed something amiss in the meteorologist’s tweet, however. “Two typos in two tweets Lucy,” they commented. “Have you had brandy in your coffee this morning?”
Lucy soon replied lightheartedly, clapping back: “My fingers are too cold to type properly.”
“I thought that would be the case,” the Twitter user said.
The weather map showed bitter levels across the UK, with the majority of England and Wales facing temperatures of -2 and large portions of Scotland -4.
Ireland and Northern Ireland had slightly milder temperatures of 1 to -1.
Lucy is a weather presenter on ITV, regularly appearing on ITV Racing and Good Morning Britain.
The Norfolk-born star studied a degree in Geography and Earth Sciences at university before kickstarting her career at the Press Association’s weather centre.
During a rare interview with Sim Courtie, 48, on BFBS Radio back in 2009, she recalled: “I sort of got trained in-house, worked there for a few ears and, later, I ended up at Sky News.”
Lucy moved on from Sky to work on ITV’s Daybreak.
She said her career had been “a bit flukey and being at the right place at the right time”.
“But quite a weather theme all the way along,” she added.
“I just found it really interesting,” the brunette beauty told host Sim.
“Living on a tiny island, like we do, surrounded by the Atlantic and the Continent and big weather systems crashing into us, no day is ever the same.
“I found it very interesting. I thought it was a bit of a challenge.”
Elsewhere, Lucy also has a huge social media fanbase, with over 80,000 Instagram followers.
Although her fans frequently interact with her posts, flooding the comments section with compliments, Lucy Verasamy disabled comments on her latest Instagram selfie.
The picture showed her wearing a warm coat as she soaked up some winter sun, accessorising with a pair of retro-style sunglasses.
