Ruth Langsford branded a 'traitor' during This Morning with Eamonn 'I can’t believe you!'

Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes took the helm as This Morning launched a Sunday edition of the ITV programme, and it was a relaxed affair in the studio. The couple and TV duo, who wed back in 2010, cut casual figures in the semi-live instalment and were seen enjoying a cuppa behind the famous desk. However, the 58-year-old Loose Women star soon sparked a furore on Twitter after she was seen pouring her spouse, 59, a tea. She was clearly seen putting the milk in first in the two cups perched on a tray in front of them, something many did not agree with.

A short clip was shared on the official This Morning page, with the caption: “It turns out that @RuthieeL pours her milk before the tea, but how do you make yours? #ThisMorning.”

And it turned out many people had a view on her method and one user even light-heartedly branded her a “tea traitor”.

“#thismorning @thismorning did Ruth just put milk in the cup first!?! Why! Why!!! Why would she so such a thing?!?” one post started.

Two others continued: “Can’t believe what I’ve just witnessed. Milk before hot water #teatraitor #ThisMorning,” and: “#thismorning Ruth just offered to make tea and put milk first, that’s just wrong.”

A forth wrote: “I cannot believe you Ruth, putting the milk in the cup first then the tea after. It’s always tea first!! Great to see you this morning though.”

Shocked viewers continued on the microblogging site: “Noooooo @thismorning Ruth puts milk in her tea first – what have I just witnessed! It’s tea first then milk surely? Let’s start a new debate #teabeforemilk #cupoftea #putkettleon #ThisMorning.”(sic)

And: “@RuthieeL oooh my GOD… you put milk in the mug first THEN you added the Tea!! NOOOOOOO #ThisMorning @thismorning #ThisMorningOnSunday.”(sic)

However, there were some at home who agreed with her method, which she said had come about as she likes to change her milk quantity based on the strength of her brew.

Someone else added: “Yes I’m like @RuthieeL with the tea about putting the milk in first as I like my tea strong. @thismorning #ThisMorning.”

Ruth had opted for a grey jumper for the proceedings, and her knit had “Sunday” written across the front.

Meanwhile, Eamonn teamed a dark green jumper with a pale blue shirt underneath.

Opening the instalment, he had said: “Welcome to Sunday’s This Morning with Eamonn and Ruth. You heard that right, This Morning on a Sunday. You can’t have too much of a good thing, can you?”

He said he would usually be “reading the papers, lounging in front of the TV, watching this probably”, on a Sunday.

She then quipped: ”Who is that person lying in the reclining chair watching the football then, is that not you?”

Ruth and Eamonn are the main relief presenters for the show, hosting on Fridays and during school holidays, standing in for Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby.

This Morning airs weekdays and now Sundays at 10.30am on ITV.
