Bill Turnbull inundated with messages amid rare picture nearly a year after cancer news

Bill Turnbull was told he was “looking so well” after he shared a rare picture of himself with his 86,000 Twitter followers, following his cancer diagnosis in November 2017. The BBC Breakfast star, who left the morning show in 2016, gave fans a backstage glimpse of what goes on at Classic FM. The 62-year-old was seen sat in the studio prior to his show with not one but three adorable companions. Wearing his headphones around his neck, he beamed at the camera alongside his beloved dogs.

Bill teamed a navy cardigan with black trousers for the broadcast, which airs Sundays been 10am and 1pm.

“It is take your dogs to work day today ⁦@ClassicFM⁩, isn’t it?” he quipped in the post, which has been liked more than 1,000 times.

He rarely shares snaps of himself online however does regularly post updates and replies to friends and fellow users.

Many quickly replied saying he was looking well, following going public with news he had cancer in March last year.

Two people agreed: “They are beautiful & wonderful to see you looking so well. X,” and: “They are gorgeous, as are you Bill. You are looking so well. Much love xx.”

Other users continued: “Looking well Mr Turnbull and your dogs look like a lot of mischief,” and: “Lovely to see you looking so well Bill! Dogs are healing!”

Further posts read: “Gorgeous [heart] and you’re looking great too Bill x,” as well as: “Happy weekend Bill. You’re looking awesome XXX.”

“Great photo they are beautiful, your looking good as well X,” another fan wrote.

Later that day, Bill responded to colleague and fellow DJ Catherine Bott, who had been listening in.

The 66-year-old messaged: “Morning, splendid @billtu – loving you in D major today, 3 in a row, inspiring me to thoughts (only thoughts, mind you) of Getting Things Done…”

He wrote back: “Picked deliberately for you, obvs [heart].”(sic)

She then added: “Nope, haven’t done anything yet, just listening @ClassicFM a good way to spend a Saturday morning!”

It comes just days after Bill spoke out on about his former colleague, Alex Lester, after he revealed he was leaving BBC radio.

He admitted it was a “sad day for broadcasting” after the star told his 13,000 followers he would no longer be on his radio show.

Alex confirmed: “After 42 years, 10,000 shows and approximately two and half years on the air in total. I’m finally stepping off the merry go round.

“I’ve worked with the very best and most importantly you have been the best. I’ve had the most wonderful time and have you to thank for much of that.”
