Game of Thrones season 8 spoilers: Sansa Stark to secure the Iron Throne for Jon Snow?

Game of Thrones season eight just around the corner and fans are getting very excited about the show’s final season.

As fans try to work out what will take place, it seems a very unlikely allegiance could emerge between Sansa Stark (played by Sophie Turner) and Cersei Lannnister (Lena Headey).

Sansa has really grown over the course of seven seasons and has learned a lot from those around her to become a formidable woman and fearless leader.

She is far from the naive young girl viewers were introduced to in season one, and it seems this could be bad news for Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke).

In a recent trailer for Game of Thrones, Sansa was seen welcoming Daenerys: “Winterfell is yours, your grace.”

While she appears to be friendly towards the Mother of Dragons, could she end up double-crossing Daenerys in what would be an incredibly ruthless move?

Sansa is still not aware of Jon Snow’s (Kit Harington) true lineage, and should she find out things would be very different for the young Stark.

She and Jon do share a close bond, and there’s a possibility that she would want her half-brother to regain his birthright, the Iron Throne.

Jon’s birth parents were revealed to be Lyanna Stark (Eddard’s sister) and Rhaegar Targaryen (Daenerys’ brother).

Sansa would very much be on Team Jon should she find out his royal blood and would certainly want him on the throne instead of Daenerys.

While Jon is an honourable man and it’s unlikely he could double-cross anyone, the same cannot be said for Sansa.

The young Stark girl could be forced to team up with Cersei to stop the Khaleesi from taking the throne.

The move would certainly be a risky one, and there’s no doubt Jon would be very annoyed. Furthermore, Sansa can’t really trust Cersei.

Meanwhile, there are rumours Sansa could end up on the Iron Throne herself.

In the trailer, it seems as though Arya Stark (Maisie Williams) and Jon seem to stand in front of Sansa in a protective manner.

Their stances seem to suggest that she’s the most important of the Stark children, and it could mean that she would end up sitting on the Iron Throne.

This theory comes from Reddit user, Charcoalgreen13, who wrote: “I keep reading a lot of things talking about the feather, the quotes, the age of the statues.

“But have we discussed at all the order in which they are standing. When they all meet at the end of the crypt, Jon is surrounded by Arya and Sansa… But when they move to be in front of their own Statue, Sansa is in the middle.

“The placement for the king/queen/head of the pack is to be centre.

“When the frost comes in, Arya and Jon draw their swords and stand in a pose that is not just for self-defence, but protective of Sansa,” finished the Reddit user.

Game of Thrones season 8 will return to HBO and Sky Atlantic on April 14. Seasons 1-7 are currently streaming on NOW TV.
