Lucy Verasamy: ITV weather star causes a stir with shock prediction’ You wait’

Lucy Verasamy, 38, revealed to her 161,000 Twitter followers that temperatures will plummet across the UK this week. The ITV star has been keeping her fans updated with the weather and said next week will be “very cold” for many. Lucy tweeted: “And if you think it’s cold now – wait until next Thursday.” The post gained 367 likes as fans flocked to the forecaster’s account as one wrote: “Brr don’t like the cold Lucy, prefer you bringing a warm front.” Another fan said: “And I can’t wait. The colder the better.”

While a third person commented: “If you can just keep the cold weather away from Ascot on Saturday that would be appreciated. Thanks.”

The forecaster also tweeted the latest forecast from ITV weather and the Met Desk. She captioned the post: “Winter finally gets underway: freezing with frozen ground tonight.”

One fan quipped: “Finally? You sound like you can’t wait to sunbathe in the freezing temperatures.”

Another person queried: “Do you think we will get another Beast from the East scenario this season?”

Lucy has been warning fans there’s a chance of “sleet and snow” for several days now – and her predictions are coming true, with temperatures dipping below freezing overnight.

Earlier this week she warned viewers: “Winter is set to return. It’s set to stay mild for the time being but colder as the week wears on. Temperatures tumbling as winter returns.

“Freezing, frosty nights and a chance of some sleet and some snow.”

The TV star has gained a huge social media following since launching her television career, which began at the Press Association.

But it’s not all fun and games for the meteorologist, who admitted she has received “weird requests” from some social media users and has been asked out multiple times by men after appearing on TV.

Speaking to Stylist magazine she said: “I tweet a lot at work. I’ve got over 100,000 followers.

“I have had men ask me out too.

“It’s weird because people often think they know me because they see me on TV all the time.”

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays on ITV from 6.30am.
